President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Ayuba Wabba said relevant agencies of government have been notified on workers’ decision to protest Ogun State government maltreatment of its workers.

The NLC president while briefing newsmen on the proposed protest in Abeokuta hinted that Ogun State government had shown great disrespect to the issues of workers hence the workers’ resolve to voice out.

Mr. Wabba stated that protest has no political undertone as the union had opened communication with the state government on the plight of the workers with no positive response.

He listed some of the unresolved issues necessitating the protest to include the unilateral decision of Ogun state government to use a new template for the payment of gratuity to retirees, non-remittance of salary deductions, nonpayment of salary to staff of Tai Solarin College of Education and the sack of labour leaders among others.

Comrade Wabba stated that the protest was constitutional and in line with the United Nations Labour Charter which Nigeria is also a signatory.
