Idanre Monarchs Sue for Peace Ahead of Saturday Polls
Following incessant political violence in Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo state in the last few days, traditional rulers in the area have challenged security operatives to urgently arrest the situation to enable residents exercise their franchise peacefully during the House of Assembly election on Saturday.
The monarchs including Owa of Idanre, Oba Frederick Aroloye, the Aladeokun of Alade, Oba Olusegun Akinbola and the Awosunye of Atosin, Oba Olakunle Ogunlowo, gave the charge during a peace meeting with political leaders and other stakeholders in the council area.
The royal father in a 7-point communiqué issued after the meeting, pleaded with all citizens of Idanre to eschew violence before, during and after the House of Assembly election.
The traditional rulers who reminded the political class that all the contestants for the Assembly seats are from the ancient town, urged parents to call their children to order and allow peace in Idanre Local Government Area.
