The candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Governorship election held on Saturday State, Prince Dapo Abiodun has been declared the winner of the contest.

The Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan, who was the Returning officer for the Governorship election, Professor Idowu Olayinka announced the results at the Ogun State INEC collation Centre at Magbon, Abeokuta, that Prince Dapo Abiodun of APC scored two hundred and forty one thousand six hundred and seventy votes, to defeat his Allied People’s Movement APM, counterpart, Mr. Abdulkabir Akinlade who scored a total number of two hundred and twenty two thousand one hundred and fifty three votes.

In the third place for the governorship election was the candidate of African Democratic Congress, ADC, Prince Gboyega Isiaka who scored one hundred and ten thousand four hundred and twenty two votes.

Professor Olayinka noted that the total number of accredited voters was seven hundred and eight thousand eight hundred and seven while the total number of votes cast was seven hundred and one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.

He said the valid votes recorded in the election was six hundred and eighty thousand nine hundred and forty seven while twenty thousand nine hundred and sixty nine votes were rejected with a total canceled vote of seven thousand one hundred.

The governorship election in Ogun State was adjudged by observers as peaceful with an average turnout of voters throughout the state.
