The Ekiti State Government has promised to assist people whose properties were destroyed by rain storm on Tuesday night.

The Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, made the promise shortly after inspecting the affected properties which spread across major parts of Ado Ekiti, the State capital.

He said state government would work in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, to bring succour to the victims.

Mr. Oyebanji who urged the people to cultivate the habit of tree planting which could help in protecting the environment, noted that the trees within Ado Community High School prevented the rainstorm from wrecking havoc on the school.

One of the victims whose house was not spared by the storm, Mr. Toyin Olaiya, thanked the State government for the swift response and called for the provision of relief materials for them so that they could fix the roofs of their houses.

Also, a 90-year old woman whose house was also affected at Ekute area, Madam Florence Arogundade, urged the governor not to relent in prioritizing the welfare of the masses.
