Oyo State Government has called on National Boundary Commission to step into the lingering inter-state boundary dispute between the state and Osun State.

Oyo State Surveyor General, Mr. Alaba Sekore made the call during his fact-finding visit to the disputed areas in Surulere Local Government Area of Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

Mr. Sekore noted that despite the directive given by the Commission to the two States to maintain status quo on the disputed boundary pending its final resolution, Osun State Government has built physical structures in the areas.

He explained that structures like Local Council Development Offices and maternity centres have been built in boundary areas at Akinnu, Alaga and Koso with sign posts bearing Osun State.

He, therefore, appealed to the Commission to expedite action on the final resolution on the issue and called on security agents to desist from alleged indiscriminate arrest of Oyo State residents including chiefs at the boundary areas.

In a remark, Chairman, Surulere Local Government, Mr. Ibrahim Gbodeniyi enjoined the people residing close to the boundaries to live peacefully and urged Osun State government to avoid actions that could lead to violence.
