The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has presented certificates of return to Governor-elect, Engineer Seyi Makinde, his Deputy Mr. Rauf Olaniyan and thirty-two legislators-elect of the Oyo State House of Assembly.

Politicians, representatives of various organizations and the Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN Ibadan National Station, Alhaji Mohammed Bello were in attendance.

Presenting the certificates, Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC of Oyo State, Mr. Mutiu Agboke, said it served as the ultimate confirmation on the victory of the election.

Mr. Agboke stated that INEC would improve on electoral process to consolidate the nation’s democratic process.

Mr. Agboke disclosed that 17 petitions arose from the National Assembly, Governorship and House of Assembly election conducted in the state.

In a keynote address, National Commissioner of INEC, Prince Adedeji Soyebi, while congratulating the Governor and Deputy Governor-elect as well as, lawmakers-elect, pointed out that Oyo was becoming a pace setter in conducting peaceful election.

Prince Soyebi who noted that half of registered voters participated in this year’s general election in Oyo State, urged stakeholders to encourage election participation in the state.

Receiving the certificate, Governor-elect, Engr. Seyi Makinde who could not hide his joy, promised to fulfill his electioneering promises.

Engr. Makinde appealed to legislators to cooperate with his administration, irrespective of their parties.
