The resolution of the energy crisis in Ijesaland is not in sight as efforts of the high-powered delegation of the community to liaise with the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, IBEDC, have failed.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria, in Ilesa, Osun state, the leader of the community representatives, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, blamed the development on the insincerity of the distribution company during and after the assessment tour of the facilities damaged by some protesters over alleged poor services and extortion by the IBEDC workers.

Chief Fasuyi therefore pleaded with the political class, prominent Ilesa sons and daughters to come to the rescue of the residents, pointing out that the current blackout was taking its toll on security and socio-economic activities in the affected areas.

The Chief assets Protection Officer of the distribution company, Captain Gbenga Ajagbe (rtd) in a remark said, the damage to the feeder pillar serving Ilesa was enormous, hence the protracted power outage in the ancient town and other affected communities.

Retired Captain Ajagbe who attributed the non-availability of electricity supply to the level of damage of the equipment regretted the inconvenience this might have caused the company and the consumers.
