The Management of Tai Solarin College of Education, TASCE, Omu-Ijebu, Ogun State, wants the State House of Assembly to intervene in the crisis rocking the institution over the backlog of staff salary.

Provost of the college, Dr Adeola Kiadese, who made the plea during the institution’s budget evaluation before the House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriations, noted that the members of staff were owed forty-eight month’s salary.

Dr Kiadese stated that the salary arrears were owed by the past and present administrations and explained that the Management of the institution under his leadership had made a frantic effort to pay few of the salary arrears from the internally generated revenue.

The Provost expressed sadness that both the orientation and matriculations ceremonies as well as academic activities for the newly admitted students of the institution could not take place as the labour unions staged a protest and denied him access into the campus.

Responding, the Chairman, House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriations, Mr Victor Fasanya summoned the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, the Management and labour unions of the institution to a meeting on Tuesday for the likely resolution of the matter.
