Italian Investors to Site Tomato Processing Plant in Lanlate

Over five hundred million Naira is to be invested in tomato farming and production of tomatoes based products in Oyo State.

A group of foreign investors from Italy made this known during a visit to Lanlate town, where the project would be sited.

Speaking on behalf of the investors, Mr. Paolo De Sciscilo stated that over three hundred thousand hectares of land would be needed for the project, and it would create over two thousand jobs.

Mr. De Sciscilo said the demand for tomato based products was increasing due to enlightenment on its health and nutritional values.

He explained that the project would specialise in cultivation of tomatoes, processing and exporting of tomato paste, tomato juice and other tomato based products.

Also, the traditional ruler of Lanlate, Oba Abdul Lateef Olagoke, said the siting of the projects would be of immense benefits to the socio-economic activities of the town and the state in general.

Oba Olagoke appealed to the incoming administration of the governor-elect, Seyi Makinde, to implement strategic policies that would stimulate agriculture businesses.
