A cross section of indigenes of Eda Oniyo-Ekiti has called on government to expedite action on the relocation of Ilejemeje Local Government headquarters to the town as affirmed by the Supreme Court.

In an interview, one of them and President of Eda Oniyo Progressive Union, Dr. Rufus Ajayi expressed confidence in the ability of the committee set up by government to ensure justice, peace and fairness in execution of the judgement.

Dr. Ajayi pointed out that the seven traditional rulers across Ilejemeje had unanimously signed a Memorandum of Understanding that Eda Oniyo should be made headquarters of the council area.

Also, another indigene, Mr. Ayo Oni maintained that necessary facilities for the take-off of the local government headquarters had been put in place, hence the need to justify the efforts of the residents of Eda Oniyo-Ekiti.

Mr. Oni who observed that the creation of Ilejemeje Local Government was solely funded by the people of the town, urged government to execute the Supreme Court judgment without further delay.

The committee on the Supreme Court judgement, headed by Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi had last two weeks visited the town with a promise to be truthful in its dealings with a view to ensuring lasting peace among the two communities.
