Ogun State Government has introduced a seal of authenticity to ensure standard and enhance the quality of Adire clothing materials in the state.

Unveiling the seal in Abeokuta, Governor Ibikunle Amosun said Adire had become a cultural symbol of the State.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun said the unveiling of the seal was to create a brand for the state and lay the solid foundation for Adire to take its pride of place in the global fabric industry.

He encouraged investors to take advantage of the industry to expand the nation’s economy.

In separate remarks, the President, Nigerian Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, NACCIMA, Mrs Alaba Lawson and the Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Prince Suraj Adekunbi expressed optimism that the seal would assist in upgrading the state’s cultural heritage in the global community.

Addressing the gathering, the Post Master General, Mr Bisi Adegbuyi said plans were on to put Adire fabrics on the world map as part of efforts to assist the small businesses in the state.

Also, the leaders of Kemta and Asero, Adire markets in Abeokuta, Alhaja Saidat Akamo and Mrs Kemi Oloyede commended the government for the initiative and encouraged the youths to take advantage of the development to engage themselves profitably.

High point of the programme was a cultural display on various designs and uses of Adire fabrics.
