Federal Government has been told to subsidize malaria drugs so as to enable Nigerians afford the cost of treatment and remain healthy.

Head, Department of Clinical Pharmacology, University College Hospital, Ibadan Dr Aduragbenro Adedapo stated this while speaking with Radio Nigeria in Ibadan.

Dr Adedayo explained that malaria scourge had reduced in Nigeria but emphasized the need for sustained efforts to beat back the disease in
Nigeria.

While advising government to subsidize malaria drugs to ease access to treatment of the disease, Dr Adedayo advised Nigerians to always use
mosquitoes treated bed nets, ensure clean environment and prevent water stagnation which she said breeds mosquitoes

Dr Adedayo also said health personnel at the grassroots should be trained and retrained on rapid diagnostic test of malaria to prevent
wrong usage of drugs.
