As Oyo State Government commenced negotiations with organized Labour on modalities for the payment of thirty thousand naira minimum wage for state workers, pensioners have also called for the upward review of their monthly pensions.

Secretary, Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo State branch, Mr. Olusegun Abatan made the call while speaking with Radio Nigeria correspondent.

Mr. Abatan said as enshrined in the constitution of Nigeria, pensions must be reviewed upwards every five years or when workers salaries were also reviewed upwards.

He described as inhumane a situation whereby a pensioner earned two thousand naira only as monthly pension.

Mr. Abatan also congratulated the newly elected executives of Nigeria Labor Congress in Oyo State, led by Alhaji Sikiru Titilola-Sodo, wishing him a successful tenure.
