Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has called for a renewed interest in the teaching of French language in public schools across the country.

Governor Ajimobi made the call while receiving the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Jerome Pasquier in his office, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan.

Governor Ajimobi noted that the country was surrounded by Francophone countries and vast knowledge of the French language would help boost bilateral relationships among neighboring countries.

In a remark, the French Ambassador, Jerome Pasquier said France was willing to see more Nigerians learn French, as well as, strengthen the relationship between both countries.

Meanwhile, Governor Ajimobi has appreciated the people of Oyo State for giving him the mandate to serve the state for eight years.

The Governor expressed the appreciation when the management of the University of Ibadan paid him a courtesy call in his office.

Governor Ajimobi said the support of the people and various institutions had contributed immensely to the success of his administration.
