Oyo State governor-elect, Engineer Seyi Makinde says his reign as the eighth consecutive governor of the state will be to the service of God and the people.

Engineer Makinde stated this at a thanksgiving service held at the Sword of the Spirit Ministries, Old Ife Road, Ibadan.

The governor-elect while addressing the congregation maintained that his emergency as the next governor would not have been possible if not for God and promised not to disappoint the electorate.

Engineer Makinde therefore pledged to be transparent in governing the state.

In a sermon, a cleric and former Vice Chancellor, Ajayi Crowther University, Professor Dapo Asaaju reminded Engineer Makinde that he was on a mission to be part of the people that would fix Nigeria.

Professor Asaaju who admonished the Oyo State governor-elect to rule with the fear of God urged him to embark on policies and programmes that would improve the life of people positively.

Prayers were later offered for Engineer Seyi Makinde, his wife Omini, deputy governor-elect, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan, Senators and House of Representatives members-elect as well as House of Assembly members-elect.

Former governor in Oyo state, Dr. Omololu Olunloyo, governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party, ADP, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Soliu Adetunji, President General, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII, Chief Yemi Soladoye and the Zonal Director Federal Radio corporation of Nigeria, Ibadan, Alhaji Mohammed Bello who was represented by Mrs. Bolanle Owoyemi, Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Oyo State Council, Mr. Adewunmi Faniran were part of the thanksgiving service.
