In response to the recent outbreak of circulating derived polio virus in the Southwest, Ogun State Government is to commence the first round of 2019 Immunization Plus Days, IPDs across the twenty local council areas of the state.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Babatunde Ipaye told Radio Nigeria in Abeokuta that the exercise would commence this weekend through next week Tuesday.
Dr Ipaye advised mothers and caregivers to take advantage of the exercise towards kicking out polio virus from the communities.
He explained that the exercise would involve the use of House-to-House vaccinating teams, Government Health Facilities and market places as well as transit teams to religious houses for the administration of Oral Polio Vaccines,OPV, to children of ages 0-59 months free of charge.
