Nigeria Copyright Commission, NCC, has encouraged media outfits to acknowledge moral and economic rights of works used on air.

The State Coordinator of the commission in the Southwest, Mrs.
Olabisi Ogundiran made the call during a courtesy call on Radio Nigeria
Ibadan.

Mrs. Ogundiran, who noted that the commission was saddled with the
responsibility of checking piracy and copyright infringement, expressed
worry that some media establishments use literacy, music and artistic
works of others in their programmes without giving credit to the
original owners.

She said NCC was ready to partner Radio Nigeria to sensitize the public on dangers of copyright and piracy.

In a reaction, Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria,
Ibadan FRCN, Alhaji Muhammed Bello gave assurance that the station would
support the organisation in line with its motto, ‘uplift the people and
unite the nation’.

Alhaji Bello stressed that Radio Nigeria would always ensure
professionalism and adhere to rules and regulations guiding
broadcasting.
