The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to prevail on the management of Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife and University of Ibadan, UI, Ibadan to return the workforce of the university staff school to the payrolls of the institutions.

The association noted that authorities of the Universities were yet to comply with the December 5th of 2016 judgment of the National Industrial Court which ruled in favour of SSANU that the universities should be responsible for both capital and recurrent expenditures of staff schools.

Speaking through the National Vice President and Chairman Western Zone, Mr. Alfred Jimoh in Ibadan, the association explained that its members at the OAU and UI were the worst hit  as the two universities pay them 50 percent and 75 percent respectively while other Federal universities have implemented the judgment.

While reiterating SSANU’s support for the introduction of Treasury Single Account, TSA, and Integrated Personal Payroll Information System, IPPIS into the university system, the association stated that the twenty-five billion naira approved by the Federal government as earned allowance to all unions in the Federal Universities had not arrived the Universities.

It however, called on relevant agencies to expedite action and ensure that the money is released and accompanied with necessary documentation.
