The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has assured the people of the Southwest that the traditional institution of Yorubaland would address the security challenges in the region.

Oba Adeyemi gave the assurance while speaking at the public presentation of the Yoruba translation of the autobiography of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo in Ibadan.

Oba Adeyemi who was the royal father of the day, cautioned the people from blaming President Muhammadu Buhari for the security challenges in the Yorubaland, saying the president was not interested in the division of the zone.

The monarch urged the people to channel their grievances through the him and other traditional rules in the Yoruba nation, saying the president would listen to them.

On his part, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Chief Gani Adams who berated the attitude of governors in the Southwest states towards solving the herdsmen/farmers crisis, urged the governors to stop politicizing issues of general concern in the zone.

While stating his ability and influence to mobilize one million people to fish out criminals in their creeks, Chief Adams called on the governors to speak with one voice and associate with groups that would resist invasion and attack for peaceful coexistence in the Yorubaland

A Historian, Professor Banji Akintoye in a keynote address, admonished the Yoruba race to sustain the hospitality and cohesion they were known for, saying disagreement or misunderstanding should be addressed with love.

In a remark, daughter of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Ambassador, Tokunbo Dosumu, who noted that the actions of most of the political leaders in the Southwest zone negated the vision of chief Obafemi Awolowo, urged them to retrace their steps and deliver good governance.

The event attracted foremost Yoruba traditional rulers including Ooni of Ile-Ife, represented by Larooka Winike of Ile-Ife, Oba Kole Ojutalayo, Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, clergymen, former Nigerian Ambassador to Philippines, Dr. Yemi Farombi, indigenous Film makers, Poets, Scholars, and various Yoruba groups.
