Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, has made August 1st this year as the ultimatum for motorcycle and tricycle users to obtain original number plate and drivers licenses.

Oyo State Sector Commander of FRSC, Mrs. Uche Chukwurah stated this at a workshop in Ibadan organized by the Apata Unit Command of the corps.

Mrs. Chukwurah said the enforcement for obtaining drivers license and number plates for okada and tricycles was borne out of the fact that some of the users used it to perpetrate evil act.

She noted that this would assist the corps in tracking and retrieving stolen bikes as well as reducing the act of kidnapping by okada riders.

Earlier, the Apata Unit Commander, Mrs. Honey Ogundayo said the workshop was part of the corps’ responsibilities at ensuring and reducing road crashes.

Mrs. Ogundayo noted that the unit had this year involved pupils as young cadets of the corps in contributing their quota because road safety is a joint responsibility of all.

Two of the new cadets, Morideeya Abioye, five years old and Enoch Atoyebi seven years old said the gesture by the road safety would go a long way in building an organized society devoid of crashes.

The pupils called on others to join FRSC cadet to build crash-free roads.
