The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Ekiti state has pledged to sustain its existing relationship with the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ in the state to build on the successes recorded in the 2019 general election.

INEC Administrative Secretary in the state, Dr Muslim Omoleke made the pledge in Ado Ekiti while receiving “Award of Excellence” presented to him by the International Institute of Journalism, IIJ Abuja, Ado Ekiti Campus.

He said journalists in Ekiti played active role during the last elections, hence the need for continuous synergy to ensure smooth conduct of the future Polls.

Dr Omoleke who thanked IIJ for the award, also ascribed the success of the last polls to team work by the management and staff of the commission.

In their remarks, the state chairman of NUJ, Mr Rotimi Ojomoyela and the IIJ Coordinator, Mr Dare Daniels said the award was presented to Dr Omoleke because of his exemplary leadership and sterling qualities as INEC boss in Ekiti.
