Oyo state House of Assembly has appealed to the Executive arm, through the Ministry of Education and Teaching Service Commission, TESCOM, to recruit more teachers in schools, with special consideration for Parent Teachers Association, PTA teachers to boast development in the education sector.

The appeal followed a motion on urgent need for recruitment of teachers in Oyo state brought to the house by member representing Ogbomoso North state constituency, Mrs Olawunmi Oladeji.

Presenting the motion, Mrs Oladeji said PTA teachers constitute the bulk of teaching staff in most secondary schools in the state adding that many of them had served for over ten years in these schools, hence the appeal to Oyo state Government to give them permanent appointment.

Contributing, Chairman Parliamentary Council, Mr Ayo fatokun called on the executive to expedite action on its inquiry into the cases of those that were wrongfully dismissed to allow teachers among them return to the duties.

The Speaker, Oyo state House of Assembly, Mr Adebo Ogundoyin decried the poor state of education in the state and expressed the commitment of PDP Government in the state to give free and qualitative education to its students.
