Some residents of Saki in Oyo State have called for the establishment of a full fledged Radio Nigeria FM station the town.
They made the call when the Director General, Radio Nigeria Dr Mansur Liman led management of the corporation on a booster site inspection in Saki.
The facilitator of the project who is also a member, House of Representatives, representing Atisbo, Saki East and West Federal constituency, Chief Olajide Olatunbosun, led the call for establishment of the full fledged FM station to disseminate information to the grassroots.
Chief Olatunbosun who explained that the booster station was the first step to bring information closer to the people, said he was worried because of the spread of fake, misleading and unverified information making the round, hence the need for a Radio Nigeria station to supply accurate and unbiased information to the public .
National Vice President, Saki Parapo, Mr. Dele Popoola said the proposed station, when established would enable residents to get access to information on government activities.
Responding, Director General, Radio Nigeria, Dr Mansur Liman assured the people of Saki his determination to make their demand a reality.
Highlight of the event was inspection of the project by Radio Nigeria management including the Zonal Director Radio Nigeria, Ibadan Alhaji Muhammed Bello.
