There is need to reawaken the consciousness of Nigerians to the techniques of disaster prevention and self protection as part of efforts to address the problem of insecurity in the country.
       The new commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Ogun State, Mr Hameed Abodunrin made the submission when he led a delegation of his management team on a courtesy visit to the General Manager of Radio Nigeria, Paramount FM Abeokuta, Alhaji Adeniyi Odekunle.

Mr Abodunrin expressed optimism that empowering individuals and communities with the required knowledge and necessary skills to tackle the challenge of insecurity would raise the people’s consciousness and deter suspected criminals from taking advantage of the society’s vulnerability.

The Ogun State commandant of NSCDC solicited the support of Radio Nigeria Paramount FM in the effort to promote media literacy towards educating the residents and ensuring capacity building of professionals in the media industry on issues of security.

Responding, the station’s General Manager, Alhaji Adeniyi Odekunle gave the assurance that the station would collaborate with the NSCDC to empower the people with the necessary information that would enhance their security.

Alhaji Odekunle also urged members of the public to support the NSCDC in their drive to ensure protection of lives and property.
