Ekiti State Government has re-assured expectant and nursing mothers of its efforts to ensure safe delivery in all government facilities.

The Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Mojisola Yaya Kolade made this known in Ado Ekiti while declaring open a Ten-Day Modified Life Saving Skill Training Programme for senior health extension workers in the state.

Dr Yaya-Kolade said part of the efforts was the training put together for the health workers to reduce pregnancy complications and deaths.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi, the commissioner said the participants would learn improved utilization of health facility services, which would lead to reduction in Maternal and Neonatal deaths.

In her remarks, the Chairman, State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Mrs Monisola Oloro said the commitments of the state government on Maternal and Prenatal Mortality had made Ekiti to be part of the leading states fighting the scourge.

Also, the Permanent Secretary Primary Health Care Development Agency, Mrs Olabisi Arogundade charged the participants to encourage expectant and nursing mothers to patronise government health centres where they would receive good medical services.
