Ogun State Governorship Tribunalhas dismissed the petition filed by the Alliance Peoples Movement (APM) and its gubernatorial candidate,Mr. Adekunle Akinlade challenging the victory of Prince Dapo Abiodun and the All Progressive Congress APC at the March 9, 2019 poll.

The three man panel led by Justice Halidu Yusuf-led tribunal unanimously dismissed the case for lacking in merit after resolving all the issues raised in the case against the petitioners.

Justice Halilu who read the lead judgement held that none of the grounds upon which the petition was anchored was proved by the counsels to the petitioners before the tribunal.

Radionigeria was at the Isabo High Court eight venue of the judgement .

The Isabo High Court area had the heavy presence of security personnel regulating movement of persons in and arround the area as early as 7 in the morning.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun state, Mr. Bashir Makama was also on hand at the state High court 8 venue of the judgement of the governorship election.

The judgement which started at a bout six minutes after ten followed a week of legal battle by counsel to petitioner and the respondents, Justice Halilu Yusuf 3-man tribunal started by delivering its ruling on preliminary objections before reading the main judgement.

After 6 hours of reading, Judtice Halilu Yusuf submitted that the petition failed.

Shortly after the judgement was delivered, counsel to the second respondent Professor Taiwo Osipintan told news men that the judgement was very apt and was inline with proceedings.

Also the speaking, counsel to the petitioner, Mr. Isiaka Olagunju while reacting to the judgement said they would go and study the judgement before knowing the next line of action.

Speaker of the Ogun state House of Assembly, Mr. Olukunle Oluomo called on petitioner to join hands with the winner of the election to build the future of Ogun state together.

Throughout the duration of the judgement supporters of both parties were not allowed to gain acess into the court premisses and shortly after the judgement was read, there were wild jubilation outside the court premises.
