Some suspected kidnappers that have being terrorizing the people of Ibarapa axis of Oyo State have been apprehended by the police.

The suspects were arrested when they kidnappped a seventeen years old boy, Shakiru Weti, at Igangan, in Ibarapa to an unknown destination.

The suspects were said to have demanded for one million Naira ransom but were later ambushed by the police after the family had already deposited the money. 

One of the suspects, Yuguda Jayum, who confessed to be the leader of the kidnapping group, said he regretted his actions and pleaded for leniency.

Another alleged kidnapper, Oluwatoyin Lasisi was also arrested in Muslim area of Ibadan while trying to kidnap a three year old girl, Nimotallah Sulaimon.

She claimed that the toddler was strolling unattended to and this made her carry the child to her own house for proper care.

While parading the suspects, Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr Shina Olukolu, said the command succeeded through the support of members of the public and gallant officers.

Mr Olukolu thereby reiterated the command’s determination and preparedness to continue to protect lives and property of the citizens of the state.

He added that the suspects would be charged to court after investigation.
