A special Jumat service to commemorate the 2019 Independence Day has been held in Abeokuta, Ogun State with a call on Nigerians to offer prayers for the sustenance of peace and development of the country.

The Mufasir of Egbaland, Alhaji Taofeek Amolegbe made the call during the service held at the Central Mosque, Kobiti, Abeokuta.

Alhaji Amolegbe, who noted that continuous prayer was essential for the nation to surmount the present challenges confronting the nation, also encouraged Nigerian leaders to exhibit the fear of God in all their dealings.

Addressing the worshippers, Governor Dapo Abiodun expressed his administration’s commitment towards improving the living standard of people in the state, especially through job creation and Agricultural development.

Represented by his deputy, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Governor Abiodun said the recently signed investment bill into law would attract investors to the state.

Also, the wife of the Governor, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun solicited the continued support of religious leaders and other stakeholders in the efforts to develop the state.

In a remark, The Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo said the task of nation building required the concerted efforts of individuals in the country.

The special Jumat service featured prayers for the peace, stability and development in Ogun State and the country.
