Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has called on Nigerians and the people of the state to rise as a compatriot and serve their father’s land in any position they find themselves.

He made the call during a thanksgiving service held at the St. Peters Anglican Cathedral, Aremo, Ibadan, as part of the programme lined up to commemorate Nigeria’s 59th Independence anniversary in Oyo State.

Speaking through the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun, Governor Makinde said all hands must be on deck for Nigeria to attain greatness.

Governor Makinde also solicited for support and prayers from residents people of the state in the task of good governance and accelerated development.

In a sermon entitled “Righteousness Exalt a Nation” The Very Reverend Andrew Adebiyi of the Catheral Of St. Peter, Aremo, Ibadan urged Nigeria leaders and followers to be righteous and heed the word of the God for the country to move to the next level.

The thanksgiving service had top government functionaries in the state in attendance including Christian civil servants.
