Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has urged the civil servants in the state not to see workers verification exercise as ploy to downsize but for development of the state.

He stated this while flagging off the verification and payroll validation exercise at Agodi, Governor’s office, Ibadan.

The flagging off was witnessed by representatives of the state NLC and TUC in the state.

Governor Makinde explained that the staff audit which cuts across both civil and public service including pensioners was targeted at effective service delivery and proper planning for the entire citizenry.

Governor Makinde urged the Saadat Barkini Ottun, the consultant handling the project to be fair in the discharge of its duties and treat the workers with dignity.

The state Head of Service, Alhaja Ololade Agboola, urged civil servants in the state not to take the exercise with levity pointing out that the programme would add value to the state civil service.

Earlier, the representative of NLC and TUC in the state, Mr. Ibrahim Ahmed and Olayiwola Yunusa raised issues such as submission of Bank Verification Number, centralised venue and called for expulsion of BVN from the exercise due to its sensitivity.

They however believed that the exercise was meant for development of the state.
