University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan has been certified and added as another testing centre for COVID-19.
This is contained in a Twitter handle of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.
With the inclusion of UCH’s Virology Laboratory, the number of labs that have capacities to test for Coronavirous is now 6.
Others are NCDC National Reference Laboratory, Abuja, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Irrua Teaching Hospital, Edo State, African Centre for Genomics of Infectious Diseases, Ede, Osun State and Nigeria Institute for Medical Research, Lagos State.
The centre also noted that work is ongoing in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State to set up another lab to increase COVID-19 testing capacity in Nigeria.
Till date, 97 cases have been confirmed, three cases have been discharged and one death recorded in the country.
Of the 16 new cases reported on the 28th of March, 7 are in Lagos, 4 in Oyo, 2 in FCT, while Osun, Kaduna and Benue states have one each.
