The INEC in Ekiti State has distributed sensitive materials to the sixteen Local Governments of the state ahead of tomorrow’s state house of Assembly poll in Ekiti.
INEC Acting Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Dr Muslim Omoleke , who doubles as the Administrative Secretary, supervised the collection of the materials at the CBN in Ado Ekiti.
Represented by the commission’s public Relations officer in Ekiti, Alhaji Taiwo Gbadegesin, the acting REC told electoral officers to ensure that the materials, which included ballot papers and result sheets, get to the Registration Area Centres, RACs, unfailingly today.
He said this would enable the materials reach the polling units early, so election could start by 8 O’ clock in the morning tomorrow.
Dr Omoleke made it clear that 198 candidates from 13 political parties would contest the 26 seats of the Ekiti state House of Assembly.
Party agents, security operatives and journalists witnessed the distribution of the materials.
Only state House of Assembly poll will take place in Ekiti since governorship election had been held in the state on the 14th of July, 2018.
Ekiti alongside six other states Osun, Edo, Ondo, Anambra, Bayelsa and Kogi have been conducting staggered Governorship election as a result of the past court cases which nullified election that produced Governors in the affected states.
