Voters across the Ogun West Senatorial District have commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC for a smooth and peaceful election.

A cross-section of voters who spoke to Radio Nigeria in Ibatefin, Ajegunle, Agosasa and Idi Iroko observed a big improvements in the electoral process compared to the last Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Mr. Ajibola Babatunde and a septuagenarian, Mr. Mufutau Ajibola said they were able to cast their votes within few minutes of arriving the polling units.

They also observed that the smart card reader were working perfectly.

Similarly, an election observer, Mr. Ukeagbo Kingley said he was pleased with the peaceful conduct of most voters and orderliness at most polling units visited.

They urged the electoral umpire to sustain the tempo and improve on few noticeable lapses.

Accreditation and voting commenced in some polling units in some parts of Ogun West Senatorial District of Ogun State as early as 8.30am.

Radio Nigeria correspondents who visited Ilaro, Iweke, Eredo, Iwoye yewa, Ilobi Erinja and Irepodun Owode report that the process was very smooth and peacefully.

Some of the electorate including, Mrs. Rihamat Babatunde and Mr. Olakunle Amoo expressed delight in the conduct of the election.

Also speaking, a governorship candidate, Mr. Oluseyi Olowookere also appreciated INEC for improving on the last presidential elections, and urged them to ensure that votes count.

The turnout of voters for governorship and State House of Assembly elections at the Ogun Central Senatorial District was relatively higher than  that of the presidential and National Assembly elections.

Monitoring the exercise at Kuto, Isabo, Sapon, Itoku, Itoko, Ibara and environs, reports that as early as 8am, electorate queued orderly and conducted themselves in peaceful manner.

It was observed that the INEC officials arrived early attended to voters promptly without record of malfunctioning of card readers.

The percentage of women at the polling booths visited was about fifty, while men and youths were twenty five percent each.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria, some electorate including Mr. Alani Awikonko, Mr. Segun Adeleye and Mrs. Omowunmi Ogunsolu expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise and hoped that the will of the electorate would prevail in the outcome of the elections.

Meanwhile, former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo who cast his vote around 10am at Ward 22, unit 11, Tomorrow, Abeokuta, declined comment.

Residents of Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital have been commended for coming out in large number to exercise their franchise.

A former governor of ogun state Chief Olusegun Osoba gave the commendation after casting his vote at the Ibara 1, Abeokuta South Local Government area of Ogun state.

Chief Osoba, who attributed the large turn out to the presence of security personnel, stated the election had so far been peaceful.

He encouraged the electorate to have confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to deliver credible elections to the people.
