Ibarapa Leaders Visit Governor-elect Seyi Makinde
Prominent leaders from Ibarapa areas of Oyo State including House of Representatives and Assembly elects members have requested that the position of the speaker state’s House of Assembly be zoned to the area.
Ibarapa zone consist of Ibarapa East, Central and North local government making it two seats out of the 32 seat at the state assembly.
This came to fore when the leaders in Ibarapa zone paid courtesy call on the Oyo State governor-elect, Mr Seyi Makinde at his Ikolaba residence, Ibadan.
Speaking with newsmen, House of Representatives elect, Ibarapa Central /North, Dr Muraina Ajibola said providence had brought the position to the area in the new dispensation after the death of the former speaker, Micheal Adeyemo, who hailed from the zone.
His words “Most importantly, we look at the results of the house of assembly, and we discover by providence, the honourable member by name Debo Ogundoyin from Ibarapa East is the only returning member under the banner of PDP for the House of Assembly .We have the majority of twenty six”.
“Providence has placed it on our lap .You will recalled that over a year ago, our speaker from the other party died but when you distribute things. It is God that distributes finally. God has placed it on our laps” he stated.
He added “We have requested his excellence to graciously help us, to support us over what God has put on the table”.
Former Commissioner for Information in the state, Mr Moses Ojoawo said there was the need for special intervention in the higher institutions in the zone with a view not to only improve the education, but also to boost the socio-economic situation of the area.
Some of the leaders who were part of the courtesy call included Chief Adewale Atanda, House of Representatives elect, Taiwo Olayemi, House of Assembly elects Debo Ogundoyin and Peter Ojedokun.
