The Secretary, Ogun State Boxing Association, Mr David Osuolale has advocated the establishment of a sports commission to address the challenges facing the sector in the state.

Mr Osuolale made the call during the 8th edition of the quarterly boxing show put together by the association in collaboration with Ogun State Boxing Hall of Fame held at Alake Sports Centre, Abeokuta.

The secretary of the state boxing body, who noted that the current system was grossly inadequate, said the establishment of the commission was long overdue, which he noted would encourage private participation in the sector.

Mr Osuolale explained that the boxing show was part of the developmental initiatives of the association to nurture and discover new talents across the twenty local government areas of the state.

According to him, Nigeria, especially Ogun State is blessed with boxers that can compete with their counterparts in the world if exposed to stiff competitions.

Some boxers, who spoke with Radio Nigeria including Kenneth Ameh, a Senior Secondary School student, and Sunday Ayoola commended the organisers and called on corporate organisation to support the initiative in the interest of youths.
