An Inter-faith prayer session has been held at the Oyo state Governor’s Office, Ibadan, to usher in the new governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde and the deputy governor, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan.

Radio Nigeria correspondent reports that hundreds of workers attended the service to welcome the new government

In a remark, Governor Makinde said he was poised to serve the people saying progress and development of the state was not negotiable.

Governor Makinde assured the workers that the issue of the minimum wage would be resolved amicably.

In their separate preaching, an Islamic cleric, Alhaji Bello Rufai and Bishop Moses Moradeyo urged the governor to make the fear of God the hallmark of his administration and embark on policies that would bring succour to the people.

The clerics equally admonished Oyo state civil servants to serve diligently for the progress of the state.

Earlier, the state Head of Service, Alhaja Amidat Agboola while pledging the support of the civil servants to the government called for training and retraining of workers for effective service delivery.

Alhaja Agboola noted that there was shortage of staff at the state ministries, parastatals and agencies.
