Oyo State government says plans are on underway to conduct local government election in the state.

A spokesperson for the state government, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, made this known while featuring on Radio Nigeria Ibadan Southwest programme “Gbajare”.

Dr. Adeniran said this was necessary, due to the dissolving of executive arm of all local governments and Local Council Development Authority, LCDA by Governor Seyi Makinde.

He pointed out that the present administration believes in the rule of law, reaffirming that the election that brought the sacked local government council chairmen into power was illegal.

Also participating, on the programme, chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, Oyo State chapter, Mr. Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye, appealed to the state government to rescind the dissolution of the executive arm of local government.

Some callers on the programme stressed the need for opposition in the state to allow the state government make people friendly programmes.
