Ekiti State Chief Magistrate Court Sitting in Ado Ekiti has remanded in prison a preist of the Methodist Church in Ado Ekiti, Reverend Adegoke Adewuyi who faked his own kidnap and his accomplice Ajewole Oluwadare.

When the case was mentioned in court on Monday, Police Prosecutor, Mrs. Monica Ekebuilo informed the court that the accused committed the offence on the eleventh of this month at a hotel within Ado-Ekiti.

She stated that the act of aiding and abetting kidnapping as well as false representation committed by the cleric was grievous and punishable under Sections 5 and 7 of State Kidnap and Terrorism Prohibition Law.

Mrs. Ekebuilo told the court that the suspect has confessed to the crime of demanding three million naira as ransom having faked his own kidnap.

The trial Chief Magistrate, Dupe Akosile who listened to the submissions of parties ordered the accused persons to be remanded in prison pending the issuance of Department of Public Prosecution’s legal advice and subsequently adjourned the case till the 24th of July.
