The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Ogun State Command says it has arrested one hundred and ninety three suspects for drug related offences in the last one year.

The NDLEA state commander, Mr. Ishaku Kwajafa who stated this in a chat with journalists at the command’s office, in Ibara, Abeokuta said twenty persons were convicted, sixty people counseled while seven thousand four hundred and twenty two point six-one-one substances suspected to be illicit were seized.

Attributing the feat to the collective efforts of relevant agencies in the state, Mr. Kwajafa solicited the support of the people especially the media on the need for fight against illicit drugs and its use in the society.

The Ogun state NDLEA commander identified inadequate counseling and rehabilitation facilities, office equipment as well as operational vehicles as some of the challenges affecting the smooth operation of the command.

Also, the Chairman, Ogun State Drug Control Committee, Mr. Oluwafemi Fafiolu said the body was working with notable musicians in the country in a bid to reduce of drug abuse in the country.
