EFCC Laments involvement of Young Nigerians in Crimes
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has expressed worry over the involvement of young Nigerians in criminal activities.
Head of EFCC, Ibadan Zone, Mr. Friday Ebelo lamented this while briefing newsmen on the activities of the commission in the first half of the year.
Mr. Ebelo noted that most of the suspects arrested and convicted this year were between the ages of eighteen and forty.
The EFCC boss said the commission recovered one hundred and sixteen million, nine hundred and forty-five thousand naira in six months.
He explained that the zonal office of the commission also recovered sixty-five vehicles out of which eleven were unregistered.
According to Mr. Ebelo, “ the zone received a total of four hundred and eighty one petitions, one hundred and seventeen were rejected ( because they were civil related cases) while three hundred and sixty four were approved for investigation.
“We were able to scure eighty three convictions out of the one hundred and seven cases filed at different court within the zone. This represents eighty three percentage of the total number of cases filed.” He said.
Mr. Ebelo, who urged parents to always guide their children, suggested unscheduled visit to those in higher institutions to ensure a crime free society.
Mr. Ebelo also solicited collaboration from Nigerians to make the country a save place for all.
