The Speaker, Osun state House of Assembly, OSHA, Mr. Timothy Owoeye is sponsoring a bill to provide stiffer penalty towards stopping the menace of kidnapping in the state.
The Speaker presented the bill at the plenary of the Assembly.
The bill tagged “Osun State Kidnapping Prohibition Bill 2019” is the first bill to be entertained by the 7th assembly and is sponsored by the Speaker.
Aware of the spate of kidnapping and its attendant consequences on the security of lives and property, lawmakers eventually made the bill to pass through first reading while discussion on the policy thrust will continue when it reconvene for the second reading of the bill.
With the step in place it is most certain that the nefarious activities of the kidnappers will be arrested particularly the disturbing and shameful manner it has become nowadays.
Meanwhile, the House also received an invitation by the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Affairs to be part of an advocacy and dialogue meeting on how to domesticate and implement laws and policies of federal government on Female Genital Mutilation.
