Governors of Southwest states in Nigeria have expressed readiness to synergise in tackling the menace of insecurity in the region.

This was part of resolutions at a Stakeholders Security Summit in Ibadan organised by the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria, DAWN commission.

Declaring the workshop open, Chairman, Western Nigeria Governors forum, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, who maintained that no state in the region could achieve greatness in isolation, said the region should not compromise in protecting its citizenry.

Governor Akeredolu called for ajoint border patrol and intelligence cooperation among the security operatives in the zone.

In their separate contributions, Ekiti and Lagos state Governors, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and Mr. Babatunde Sanwo-Olu expressed the readiness of their states to partner others in the fight against insecurity in the Southwest.

Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone eleven, Mr. Leye Oyebade called for collaboration among all relevant stakeholders to partner with security agencies for effective policing.

Earlier, in a welcome address, Oyo state Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde said the recommendations from the summit would go a long way to collectively address the issue of insecurity facing the country.

The summit was attended by traditional rulers, religious leaders, politicians and different groups of security stakeholders.
