Oyo State Government has partnered the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at ensuring a drug free society.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state who was represented by deputy Governor, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan stated this in Ibadan at a workshop organised by NDLEA to Mark 2019 international day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.

Engineer Makinde said his administration was ready to synergize with NDLEA at ensuring that the state was drug free through sensitization programs.

NDLEA Commander in Oyo State, Mr Ralph Igwenagu said the increasing rate of Drug abuse had become a thing of concern, which needed urgent attention by all relevant stakeholders before it degenerated.

Mr Igwenagu added that there were opportunities for drug users to approach NDLEA for care, treatment and rehabilitation.

One of the participants and a former drug addict, Mr Jesujuwon Obereke said he was rehabilitated by NDLEA and now lived a drug free life.

Mr. Jesujuwon called on drug abusers to desist from the act before it destroyed their lives and those of their loved ones.
