Oyo state is technically bankrupt but efforts are currently ongoing to open up frontiers for revenue generation to keep the state running.

Governor Seyi Makinde stated this when the top Management staff of the University of Ibadan paid him a visit in his office.

The Governor promised that the Agbowo shopping complex opposite the institution would be transformed to an edifice of benefit for the state within the next hundred days in office.

Engineer Makinde also said he will meet with institutions indebted to the state government to find possible ways to offset their debt profile while making frantic effort in boosting the state Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

The governor equally promised to collaborate with the University of Ibadan on public private partnership initiatives as well as utilizing researches from the institution to better the state.

Earlier, the Chairman and Pro Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Waklek Joshua explained that the visit was part of way to show solidarity to the present government in the state and called for synergy with the institution on infrastructural development.
