Police Reads Riot Act to Confraternities in Oyo

Nigeria Police, Oyo state Command has uncovered plans by some cult groups to breach peace today under the guise of celebrating annual festival of confraternity.

Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr Shina Olukolu, said the secret cult groups included Eiye, Buccaneer and Aiye confraternities.

Mr Olukolu therefore warned those behind the plans to have a rethink or face the wrath of the law.

While assuring the members of the public, Mr Olukolu said the command had put machinery in place to prevent any break down of law and order.

He noted that the secret cult groups planned festival was illegal and criminal, and would disrupt the peaceful coexistence of the state.

The Police therefore called on parents to sternly warn their children who are bent on causing mayhem on the aforementioned day to refrain of face the consequences.

Mr Olukolu added that in any case of emergency, the public should report to any police stations in the area for quick intervention.
