2 Division, Nigerian Army has denied the claims by some residents along Arulogun/Igbooloyin road over the dangers they face with their shooting range.

General Officer Commanding, GOC 2 Division Major General Okwudile Azinta stated this while taking journalists round the shooting range in the barrack.

General Azinta said the claims by some residents of Ajobo, Omilabu, Idi- Omo, Anilerin,Keda and Oluseyi that the bullets used during the military shooting exercise were escaping and destroying their property was baseless.

The GOC noted that the military had since 1976 created the “stop butt” which served as blockage of bullets, stressing that the effective range of AK-47 riffle being fired was 500 meters whereas the communities were two thousand meters away.

To resolve the matter, the GOC said the representatives of the communities involved and journalists would again be invited where they would be divided into two, one to be in the range while the other party would be at the communities to ascertain whether the bullets escaped or not.
