The Ekiti State House of Assembly has resolved to liaise with the Executive arm of government and other relevant agencies to assist flood victims in Ogbese community following the overflow of River Ogbese in Ise/Orun Local Government area of the state.

The Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Mrs. Yemisi Ayokunle stated this in Ado Ekiti while addressing newsmen after the sitting of the house.

Mrs. Ayokunle who sympathized with the victims over the loss of properties running into millions of Naira to the flood, said the Assembly and other stakeholders would come to their aid to ameliorate their sufferings.

Mrs. Ayokunle disclosed that the House leadership headed by the Speaker, Mr. Funminiyi Afuye and members of the Committee on Environment had paid a visit to the community for an on the spot assessment of the damage done by the flood.

She however cautioned the people of Ekiti state to desist from dumping refuse indiscriminately, especially on water ways to avoid disasters.

River Ogbese recently overflowed it bank where many people in Ogbese community were rendered homeless and property worth millions of Naira, including farm produce were destroyed.
