The family of Lowo Oyediran who was allegedly killed by his wife has expressed shock over the release of the wife, Yewande who was convicted for the crime.

Counsel to the family, Chief Yomi Aliu in a WhatsApp message to our Correspondent said the family was yet to believe that government could release her while she was still serving her seven years jail term.

He said “they still didn’t believe the Government could do that in a case where the lady wounded her husband in the afternoon and finally killed him in the night”

Chief Yomi Aliu maintained that the family is still in shock “Since they are poor and know nobody they have left Yewande and everybody involved to their conscience and the judgment of Almighty God”

However in a reaction, Former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Seun Abimbola said there was nothing new in the case.

He said “people should stop being malicious and spreading unfounded insinuations”

It could be recalled that Yewande Oyediran was arrested in February 2016, for killing her husband, Lowo.

When the case started, immediate past Commissioner for Justice Mr. Seun Abimbola was among the team of lawyers who were defending her, until he was appointed as commissioner which caused him to withdraw from the case.

At the end of the case, the Oyo state Chief Judge, Justice Muktar Abimbola ruled that prosecution failed to establish premeditated murder against Yewande and sent her to seven years imprisonment for manslaughter which was dated back to when she was first arrested.

Oyo state Government therefore released her with other forty nine inmates in May this year.

From February 2016 to May 2019 when she was released, Radio Nigeria reports that the ex convicted Lawyer spent forty months in prison which is four years four months, according to prison calendar.
