Six days to Eid El Fitri, a Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo the Osun state capital has sentenced Adebayo Afeez to two years imprisonment for stealing Ram.

The convict was arraigned on a two count charge of unlawful house breaking and theft of a Ram, offences contrary to section 383 and punishable under section 390(b) of the criminal code Cap 34 vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.

The prosecutor of the case, Police Inspector, Olayiwola Rasaq said the offence was committed at about 5 o’clock, on the 2nd of August, based on the report of the complaint.

He explained that consequent upon reasonable information that the Ram was spotted in Ifon-Ilobu area of the state in possession of Adebayo Afeez, the Investigative Police Officer Sergeant Alashi John with other officers swung into action and arrested the convict alongside a woman, Wasilatu Olayinka who was later released.

Mr. Rasaq said upon interrogation, the convict confessed to the crime.

The convict who had no legal representation pleaded guilty to the charges and attested to all the facts given by the prosecutor as true.

He however pleaded with the court to tender justice with mercy in its decision.

The presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Risikat Olayemi in her judgement, considered the fact that he was a first time offender and therefore sentenced him to two years imprisonment running concurrently or payment of ₦5000 as fine for each of the offences.
