Insincerity and diversion of relief materials have been identified as some of the problems facing humanitarian services in the country.

A member of an international humanitarian organisation, Mr Adewale Adedokun made this known while featuring of Straight Talk, an interview programme on Premier FM, to mark this year’s world humanitarian day. 

Mr Adedokun expressed displeasure over the insensitivity of some officials that failed to distribute these materials to the victims, saying such act had deprived them of the resources available. 

He advised Nigerians to engage more in humanitarian services in the country to cushion the effect of disaster on victims. 

While soliciting for more involvement of individuals and corporate organizations in humanitarian services, Mr Adedokun called for proper appraisal of the immediate needs of victims before embarking on humanitarian services to achieve desired result. 

Mr adedokun commended international community and partners for their contributions to humanitarian aides in Nigeria, especially in crisis prone areas. 

He said women humanitarians should be commended and honored for their immense roles in saving lives. 

The theme for this year’s World Humanitarian Day celebrates the active role of women in humanitarian aid.
